FAQ's
Do you offer both virtual and in-person sessions?
I offer virtual sessions only. Since therapy requires a safe and supportive environment, I screen potential clients to ensure that virtual sessions are a good fit. This helps determine whether online support aligns with your needs, access to privacy, and ability to engage in the process effectively.
Do you offer packages?
Yes, I offer package pricing with discounted rates for pre-paid sessions and more intensive support through my concierge service.
What do I have to do in sessions?
In therapy, each session is tailored to your unique needs. Whether we're exploring challenges, identifying patterns, or developing coping strategies, your only obligation is to show up as you are. Meaningful progress requires active participation, and I'll continuously assess if our work together is fostering growth. After six sessions, we'll formally evaluate if continuing with me is in your best interest, and I'll provide referrals if needed to ensure you receive the best support.
My partner and I are having problems. Should we be in individual sessions or come as a couple?
It depends on your goals. If you're aiming to address relationship issues—such as communication, conflict resolution, or building connection—couples therapy is the best option. In couples therapy, the focus is on the relationship as a whole. If you're unsure that you may want personal 1:1 therapy then we can discuss your specific needs to determine the most beneficial approach.
What does it mean to work "under supervision"?
Working under supervision means that I regularly consult with my licensed supervisor, Nicole Botaitis, LMFT #47319, LPCC #227, about my clinical work. This process includes:
-
Weekly consultation about client cases
-
Guidance on treatment approaches and interventions
-
Ethical and legal oversight
-
Ongoing professional development support
Are you licensed to provide therapy to clients in my state?
As a California-licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #154230) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #19060) working under the clinical supervision of Nicole Botaitis (LMFT #47319, LPCC #227) of Botaitis Therapy Group, I am currently only able to provide therapy services to residents physically located in California at the time of service.
How long are your sessions? How often will we meet?
Session length depends on your needs:
-
Standard sessions: 60 minutes (the most effective structure for maintaining progress while allowing time to integrate insights between sessions).
-
First responders & veterans: 90 minutes at the cost of a standard session to account for high-stress environments and complex experiences.
-
Addiction & early recovery (first 90 days): 75 minutes at the cost of a standard session to support stabilization, relapse prevention, and nervous system regulation.

Concierge services and intensive support packages: Available for those needing more time and focus.
What is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)?
An Associate MFT or PCC is a mental health professional who has completed all required graduate-level education and is in the process of completing their supervised clinical hours toward full licensure. Associates have earned their master’s degrees in psychology or a related field and are registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). In addition to the required clinical hours for my degree, I have already accumulated approximately 1,000 hours toward the 3,000 supervised clinical hours required by the BBS for full licensure. Once I complete these hours, I will be eligible to take the licensing exams to become fully licensed.
What resources should I turn to if I experience a mental health emergency between sessions?
-
Call 988 (National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline)
-
Text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line)
-
Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room
-
Contact the California Peer-Run Warm Line at 1-855-845-7415
How much do your sessions cost?
Standard session - $175.
What does the intake process look like?
I use a Biopsychosocial-Cultural (BPS-C) intake model, which looks at your history, experiences, and environment as interconnected parts of your well-being. The intake process helps us explore your needs, assess whether virtual therapy is a good fit, and create a plan tailored to your goals.
How can I support my child or family member in therapy?
While I focus on supporting parents, teens, and families, I don't typically see young children, as in-person therapy is often more beneficial for them. I believe growth thrives with connection, so I encourage family involvement when appropriate. If you’re a caregiver, I can help you create a safe, communicative, and emotionally regulated environment. I can also provide referrals for in-person resources if you need support for younger children.
Why don't you accept insurance?
I choose to operate as a private-pay practice for several important reasons:
-
It protects your privacy by eliminating the need to share your information with insurance companies
-
It allows me to focus on what you need rather than what insurance will cover
-
It gives us flexibility in treatment approaches and session frequency
-
It eliminates the requirement for a mental health diagnosis unless clinically appropriate

While this means the initial out-of-pocket cost is higher, many clients find that the benefits of confidentiality, flexibility, and personalized care outweigh the financial considerations.

What This Means For You
-
Payment is due at the time of service
-
I can provide you with a superbill (a receipt with the necessary service codes) that you may submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
