About Mary Sidiropoulos-Glennan | Trauma & Addiction Therapist in California

I provide online trauma-informed therapy across California for anxiety, trauma, addiction, and relationship patterns. My work focuses on understanding how your nervous system and lived experiences shape what you’re dealing with—and how to move through it differently.

I’m a first-generation Greek-American, Bronx-born, Cali-raised trauma and addiction therapist who keeps things real and direct.

I see trauma and addiction as braided together, so we’re working with your nervous system, not just slapping diagnoses on you.

I care way more about what your brain and body had to survive than about judging your choices.

I’m not here to ‘fix’ you; I’m here to help you understand your wiring so you can actually have options.

Around here, all of the shit you’ve been through is the fertile ground we’re gonna grow in.

My Approach to Trauma, Anxiety, and Addiction Therapy

How I work

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

Therapy with me is real, conversational, and doesn’t require you to show up a certain way.

A lot of people come in saying, “I don’t even know what to talk about,” or “I wasn’t sure what to bring into session.”

You don’t need a plan or the right words. You just have to be willing.

Willing to be curious.

Willing to be honest—at your own pace.

We don’t force anything here. Honesty doesn’t come from pressure, it comes from building real rapport and enough safety for things to come up naturally. That’s part of the work too.

This is a place to build solid ground—where healing can take root.

I specialize in trauma and addiction, and I look at both through the lens of how your brain and nervous system have adapted over time.

Your brain is wired to repeat what it knows. The more something is practiced—thoughts, reactions, behaviors—the stronger those pathways become. That’s how patterns get reinforced.

The same process is also what allows change.

Your brain is malleable. It can shift.

But that doesn’t happen by forcing it—it happens through awareness, repetition, and doing something different over time.

Awareness is where we start.

From there, we build.

What you’re dealing with might be shaped by your experiences, your biology, your environment, or the way you make meaning out of your life. Most of the time, it’s a mix of all of it.

This often shows up as anxiety, complex trauma (CPTSD), or patterns connected to addiction and recovery.

We don’t reduce that—we stay curious about it. This work is collaborative.

I’ll meet you fully in it,

and I’ll match your energy—

but I won’t work harder than you.

You don’t have to do this perfectly,

but you do have to be willing to engage with it. Because this isn’t easy work.

Growth can feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it brings up things you’ve been avoiding for a long time. We don’t force that—but we also don’t stay on the surface.

We follow a trauma-informed, hierarchy-of-needs approach:

In session, I’m active and engaged. I’ll guide, reflect, and challenge you when it matters—not to push you, but to help you see what’s happening and move through it differently.

I don’t see you as broken. I see a system that adapted—and now we figure out what still fits, and what doesn’t.

  • safety and stability come first

  • your nervous system matters more than pushing insight

  • we build capacity before going deeper

How Change Actually Works

Understanding Your Patterns

For some people, that looks like anxiety that doesn’t really shut off—overthinking, staying on edge, or trying to get ahead of everything at once. If that’s what’s most present, you can explore Anxiety Therapy.

Sometimes it goes deeper than what’s happening right now—patterns that trace back further than you can easily name or explain. If that’s what you’re noticing, Trauma Therapy goes further into that work.

For others, this shows up through substance use or other patterns that help manage what’s underneath it. If that’s part of your experience, Addiction & Recovery support may be helpful.

If this approach resonates, we can start with a simple conversation.

15-minutes. No pressure, just a chance to connect.

I work with clients across California through virtual therapy, focusing on trauma, anxiety, and addiction.

If you’re wondering why I approach therapy this way, read below.

A Bit About Me

I didn’t come into this work from a distance.

I’ve had to rebuild many parts of my life...

There was a time I couldn’t stand to be alone...

A time I couldn't fathom being clean.

Now, it’s something I’m intentional about.

It didn’t fully click for me until I had the right support around me -

working with my own professional team...

Accademia was a turning point for me, too...

My training includes a background in Human Development and Neurobiology-Informed Clinical Psych

alongside specialized work in trauma and addiction

That combination of lived experience, support, and education
is what shapes how I show up in this work.
